Traffic survey in the VRR: Your support is needed!

From January 10, 2026, interviewers will be traveling by bus and train to collect data for the next transport survey. 

The survey will take place in 2026 and in subsequent years on selected bus, tram and train lines in the VRR area. 

The interviewers collect the data via smartphone. They ask questions such as:

• which ticket type and price level you use
• which transport company sold your ticket
• Your route and the purpose of your journey

For DeutschlandTickets, the place of residence is also recorded, and for SemesterTickets, the university location is recorded. 

The data of all passengers on buses and trains is important for the traffic survey - that is, people of all ages from schoolchildren to senior citizens are surveyed. 

The evaluation is anonymous and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the individual passenger - information about the ticket used and the route traveled is the main focus.

The entire survey takes no longer than two minutes and can be conveniently completed while driving.

Important: The survey staff will not check tickets or collect any increased fares. They will only collect information necessary for revenue sharing.
