Arrival by bus and train to the Corpus Christi fair

When the Sterkrader Corpus Christi fair begins after a two-year break, this time a particularly large number of visitors are expected in the center of Sterkrade. It is advisable to use public transport to get here. The STOAG is well prepared and uses additional buses on all days of the fair. The main stop and transfer point for fair visitors is the Sterkrade train station - the fun at the fair starts right here.

Sterkrader city center will be closed from Saturday, June 11, 14 p.m. to Wednesday, June 22, 7 a.m., the STOAG buses will be diverted during this time. Lines SB90, SB94, SB98, 263, 952, 955, 956, 957, 960, 962, 966, 976, 979, NE1, NE2, NE3, NE6, NE7, NE10, X42 are affected.

All bus lines go either via Bahnhofstraße, Eugen-zur-Nieden-Ring and Friedrichstraße or via Steinbrinkstraße and Friedrichstraße to Sterkrader Bahnhof.

Stops

The stops “Neumarkt”, “Sterkrade Mitte” and “Hagelkreuz” are not approached during the diversion. In the direction of Sterkrade Bf. An additional stop “Rathaus Sterkrade” will be set up on Eugen-zur-Nieden-Ring, the stop “Hirsch-Center” is on Bahnhofstrasse in both directions. The “Mathildestraße” stop will be relocated to Weseler Straße.

Most lines stop in both directions at the central stops "Sterkrade Bahnhof", "Rathaus Sterkrade" and "Hirsch-Center". For the duration of the diversion, the express bus lines SB 90 and SB 98 will also stop at the "Mathildestraße" stop on Weseler Straße. Lines 956, 966 and NE10 in the direction of Goerdelerstraße or Sterkrade Bahnhof go after the Emdenstraße stop via Friedrichstraße directly to Sterkrade station and continue on the normal route.

There is an additional detour on line 976 in and out of the direction of Falkestraße during the fair period, i.e. from June 16th to 22nd. From 14 p.m. on route 976, the “Brüderstraße” stop will be eliminated.

The tram starts or ends on Saturday, June 11, at 13 p.m. at the “Sterkrade Bahnhof” stop. The “Neumarkt” stop is not available during the fair.

The ticket to the fair

STOAG recommends this for Oberhausen fair visitors who are only planning a short stroll through the fair
4 hour ticket. At a price of 4,30 euros, it entitles you to any number of journeys in the city within four hours. The 4-hour ticket is available on the bus, online in the STOAG ticket shop or via the STOAG app, as well as in the STOAG customer centers and all private advance booking offices.

If you want to stroll around the fair and take your time for the many rides, you can buy a single ticket price level A2 (2,90 euros, children: 1,70 euros) for a trip in the Oberhausen area. Available online (www.stoag.de) is the HappyHourTicket for 3,30 euros per person. It is valid from 18 p.m. to 6 a.m. in the city area for any number of trips.

STOAG press spokeswoman Sabine Müller: “I definitely recommend the 9-euro ticket this year. This means that visitors can travel to the fair more than once at low cost and also use local and regional transport nationwide with this ticket throughout the month of June. Mobility doesn’t get any cheaper than that.”

When it absolutely has to be the car

Drivers should use one of the park-and-ride facilities at the Landwehr, at the main train station or on Werthfeldstraße (Olga-Park) and change to public transport from there. The ticket is available from machines or on the bus, but not on the tram. STOAG wishes all visitors to the Corpus Christi fair a pleasant journey and lots of fun!
