New working time models have been established as a result of the corona pandemic and have resulted in passengers no longer using public transport on a daily basis. The Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) has responded to customer requests for flexible tickets with new ticket models.
The FlexTicket has been around since the beginning of the year, but many passengers are not yet familiar with it. It is available in two variants. Mirco Balkmann, Head of Sales and Marketing at STOAG, explains the principle: “The FlexTicket consists of the two tariff models Flex25 and Flex35. Both grant reduced prices on single tickets in price categories A to D with a fixed monthly basic amount.”
With the Flex25 tariff, customers pay EUR 3,90 per month and receive a 25 percent discount when purchasing single tickets and bicycle tickets. The Flex35 variant costs EUR 8,90 per month. There is a discount of 35 percent on single tickets and bicycles are free of charge. Both tariff models are only available digitally via the STOAG app. The FlexTicket is valid for 30 days and can be canceled monthly without notice. "This means," says Mirco Balkmann, "that the FlexTicket is really particularly flexible and is suitable, for example, for commuters who only travel to work a few days a week. But the FlexTicket can also be interesting for those who travel several times a week to different destinations by bus or train. On the other hand, those who use public transport almost every day continue to benefit from the classic subscription. In individual cases, we are happy to advise you in the STOAG customer centers which ticket is best for regular public transport users.”
