More STOAG buses before Christmas

In the run-up to Christmas, STOAG recommends using public transport to visit the city centre or the New Centre. Travelling via the car-free public transport route is the best way to avoid the traffic problems around Christmas.

From November 15th, STOAG will increase service on the route between Hauptbahnhof (main train station), Neue Mitte (New Center), and Sterkrade every weekend before Christmas, as well as on Black Friday, November 28th. Additional buses will run on Saturdays between 2 pm and midnight and on Sundays between noon and 8 pm. During the Christmas holidays, on Saturday, December 27th, and Saturday, January 3rd, more buses than usual will also be in operation on the route between noon and 8 pm. For drivers, the Park & Ride facilities at Werthfeldstraße (OLGA-Park stop) and Landwehr (Landwehr stop) are recommended as parking options.

Minibuses operate as shuttles

Traffic arriving at the Neue Mitte (New Center) is expected to lead to particularly heavy traffic and congestion on Osterfelder Straße and Essener Straße on the coming weekends. This will also affect STOAG bus lines SB94, 957, and 961. Should delays cause significant disruptions to the timetable, these lines will change their routes. Line SB94 will terminate at the Osterfeld Mitte stop only on Saturdays and only before Christmas. On these Saturdays, five-seater "Revierflitzer" buses will operate on the SB94 line between the Osterfeld Mitte and Breilstraße stops. The 957 line will bypass the detour in Oberhausen-Borbeck. Instead, shuttle buses will run on Saturdays and Sundays between the Haus Ripshorst and Aquapark stops. These shuttle buses will serve the following stops: Aquapark, Haus Ripshorst, Einbleckstraße, Sandgathe, Ripshorster Straße, Küppers Hof, Eisenbahnbrücke, and then back to Haus Ripshorst and Aquapark. On Saturdays and Sundays, buses on route 961 will be diverted via the old route. As a replacement, minibuses will operate as a shuttle service on Osterfelder Straße and Essener Straße between the Osterfeld Süd Bahnhof stop and the Bero-Zentrum stop.
