New route network - information now online

On June 9th, Oberhausen will receive a new line network and a new timetable. The reason for this network change is the financial contribution that STOAG makes to the urban finance pact.

The savings volume of the city of Oberhausen can only be achieved in cooperation with all municipal subsidiaries. The STOAG makes a contribution of 3,5 million euros per year, around 1 million euros of which have to be achieved through changes in the transport offer. As a result, the route network is being fundamentally changed for the second time in just two years.

The new network was discussed and coordinated with representatives of public interests as well as with the Pro Bahn passenger association last autumn. There will also be good connections in Oberhausen in the future, both during the day, in the evening and at night. Of the approximately 350 bus stops in the city, five stops will be canceled from June: Arndtstraße, Bachsteg, Flöz-Röttgersbank-Straße, John-Lennon-Platz and Rudolfstraße. All other stops remain, so that buses and trams can still be reached over short distances, even if other lines may run there in the future.

These lines remain unchanged in the course of the line:

SchnellBus SB90, SB91, SB92, SB93, SB98
City bus 136, 143, 263, 905, 908, 935, 955, 957, 979, 995
Night Express NE1, NE2, NE3, NE5, NE6, NE10, NE11, NE12, NE21

Bus and tram cycle times
On the most important and most frequently used connecting routes, there is a 10-minute cycle during the day, Monday to Friday, which results from the timing of lines that run every 20 minutes. These main connections are supplemented by lines that run every 20 or 30 minutes in densely populated residential areas. In areas where only a few passengers use local public transport and where other, frequent lines are easily accessible, buses run every hour.

Main connections every 10 minutes

Schmachtendorf - Sterkrade - Central Station
Königshardt - Sterkrade
Tackenberg - Osterfeld Mitte - Central Station *
Sterkrade - Buschhausen - Central Station
Alstaden (Fröbelplatz) - Bero Center *
Alstaden (Rehmer) - Central Station
Uhlandviertel - Central Station
Bottrop ZOB - Osterfeld - Central Station - Bero Center

* 6 trips per hour, not a pure 10-minute cycle

The night network basically remains in place, only the lines NE4 and NE9 will create a new NE4 with a modified route. In return, the NE7 line will be extended to Schmachtendorf. As before, there is a central rally at Sterkrade station. On Saturday mornings, the NachtNetz is extended by two hours, ie the TagNetz starts at around 8 a.m.

Timetable information is now available on the Internet
A network change as extensive as the one in June will affect many bus routes. Often, however, only individual sections change, which are then taken over by other lines, such as line 185. And new direct connections are created, for example between Osterfeld and Oberhausen Castle or Dümpten and City Hall. This is why the new network is best understood using a schematic diagram. This will soon be available for download on the STOAG website.

The timetable information is now activated for the new network, so that everyone can call up their individual connections online after June 9th. Of course, personal timetable information is also provided in the three STOAG customer centers. Among www.stoag.de provides up-to-date information on the new network from now on, so the timetables for the buses at the beginning and end of school are posted there at an early stage. All schools, but also leisure and senior citizens' facilities, are also provided with information separately.
