Looking for beautiful stories from public transport - a thank you for the heroes of the street.

Nationwide, passengers can nominate their favorite bus drivers as part of a competition and tell their personal bus story. Does your favorite bus driver always have a friendly word on her lips for every passenger? Your favorite bus driver has a big heart and takes special care of passengers in wheelchairs and with walkers? Every day in Oberhausen, wonderful little and big stories happen in buses.
 

"More than 1.000 stories have already been submitted across Germany, and the initiators didn't expect that," says STOAG Managing Director Werner Overkamp, ​​who, as a member of the jury, will select the three most moving and beautiful stories in July and choose the winners. As a thank you, the people who submitted the winning stories will receive an invitation to the award ceremony in Berlin in September, including travel to and from the event by train and hotel accommodation, as well as a quarterly subscription to the DeutschlandTicket.
 

At STOAG, 333 bus drivers are on the road for customers day and night, on weekends and public holidays. There is hardly any public recognition for this. "We have great employees who take responsibility for reliable, punctual and safe transport every day and who take care of their passengers in their very special way. That's why I would be very happy if stories from Oberhausen were also submitted - of course, experiences with our tram drivers can also be submitted," Werner Overkamp continues and continues: "Without around 100.000 bus drivers, not a single bus drives in Germany . It's time to say thank you and show our appreciation in a much clearer way. It is a challenging, but also diverse and meaningful job. And a job with a future. By 2030, the transport companies will have to fill around 25 percent of the jobs and – keyword climate protection – want to grow. The industry is now repositioning itself, becoming more flexible and attractive.”

The "Favorite Bus Driver:in 2023" competition is a joint initiative of the PRO BAHN passenger association, DB Regio, the Association of German Transport Companies (VDV) and the Federal Association of German Bus Companies (bdo) and runs until June 30, 2023.
 

Passengers can tell their own personal bus story directly on the Internet at the website www.lieblingsbusfahrerin.de. There you can also nominate your favorite bus driver.
