STOAG bus school

A traffic education project by STOAG and the police

Whether with parents or alone, whether to school, to sports or on the way to friends - we look forward to having children "on board". From the 5th grade at the latest, many children use buses and trams every day. Children see the traffic situation with their own eyes and behave more spontaneously and unpredictably. We take our responsibility for our young passengers very seriously and, together with the police, support the mobility education of your children.
Public transport is very safe. Only seven percent of all accidents involving children occur in connection with public transport. Nevertheless, proper bus driving is something that needs to be learned. Together with the police in Oberhausen, we have developed a teaching project for the 5th grade that sensitizes children to potential sources of danger and develops and trains rules of conduct for accident prevention on public transport.

Who can take part in the bus school?

All 5th graders in Oberhausen can participate. The police contact all schools in good time and arrange an appointment if they are interested. The bus school mainly takes place in and on the bus at the STOAG depot. The service is free for schools.

What happens in the bus school?

In three lessons we will present everyday situations on the bus and at the bus stop in a clear and playful way. This will cover waiting at the bus stop, getting on and off correctly, holding on and letting go, but also travelling without a ticket. The knowledge acquired will be brought to life in various exercises. Of course, all pupils will receive a certificate at the end. We would be delighted if you would prepare the bus school in class using the materials provided below and integrate it into the topic of road safety.

How is the bus school organized?

The bus school takes place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 8:15 a.m. and 11:20 a.m. The early appointment starts in the classroom, then the bus school car drives the whole class to the STOAG depot on Max-Eyth-Straße. For the return journey around 11:00 a.m., please take the public bus with your class - you will of course receive the ticket from us. The "Stadtwerke" stop is right next to our depot, where the 976 stops.

For the second appointment, you travel independently with the class by bus. At the end of the bus school around 13:45 p.m. we drive the whole class back to school in the bus school car.
