Why are we reforming the local transport tariff in the VRR?

The DeutschlandTicket is one of the most significant advances in public transport in recent decades. It gives people easy and inexpensive access to buses and trains and has become an important component of local public transport. In addition, the eezy ticket, which has been valid throughout NRW since December 2021, offers a straightforward solution for all those who only want to use public transport occasionally.   

The most important changes at a glance  

  • We are simplifying the tariff structure by reducing the price levels from seven to three.
  • From March 01, 2025, there will only be one price level A for trips within a city, one price level B for trips to the neighboring city (or the immediate surrounding area) and one price level C for VRR-wide validity.
  • The short-haul route and the “old” price level C will no longer be available.  

In the future, all passengers, In addition to the DeutschlandTicket and the electronic eezy-Ticket, a clear basic range of VRR tariffs is available.

The most important questions about the tariff reform

In the future, there will only be three price levels instead of seven:

Price level A - for trips within a city

Price level B - for trips to the neighboring town or the immediate surrounding area

Price level C - for journeys throughout the entire VRR network area

We will automatically switch your subscription to the DeutschlandTicket on March 01.03.25st, 28.02.25. If you do not agree with the change, you must cancel your subscription by February XNUMXth, XNUMX, e.g. by email to abo@stoag.de. Holders of a JobTicket should contact their employer.
