Blue angels for green buses

The Blue Angel now adorns the new articulated and solo buses from STOAG. There are a total of 17: 13 solo buses with a length of 12 meters and four articulated buses with a length of 18 meters from the Mercedes Benz brand, Citaro type. The Blue Angel is awarded to products that are particularly environmentally friendly in their holistic view and meet high quality standards - in production and use.
The vehicles are particularly quiet (max. 77 dB (A)) and low in emissions. For comparison: a car has a noise reading of approx. 80 dB (A) when it is stationary, the driving noise is between 70 and 80 dB (A). The EEV emission standard is currently the most demanding European emission standard for buses and ensures the green sticker on vehicles. EEV exceeds the Euro 5 exhaust gas quality that has been in force for buses and trucks since September 2009.

The vehicles are equipped with an SCRT system for exhaust aftertreatment. SCRT (Selective Catalytic Reduction Technology) is a technology for minimizing nitrogen oxides (NOx), soot particles (PM), hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxides (CO) in the exhaust gases of diesel engines.
In vehicles with the Blue Angel, no substances that damage the ozone layer may be used in the built-in materials; a reduction in toxic heavy metal compounds (solvents <130g per m²) has been implemented in the paints used.
At the end of December / beginning of January the 17 buses were delivered and prepared for use in regular services at the STOAG depot. All vehicles are equipped with air conditioning, TFT monitors and folding ramps for wheelchair users; the video systems are currently being installed. STOAG has invested 4,5 million euros in the new buses, 25% of which are subsidized.
The new vehicles sustainably meet the quality requirement of transporting passengers in an environmentally conscious, safe and comfortable way with economical and ecological vehicles. Today STOAG has one of the most modern bus fleets in the VRR.
