Deficit further reduced - STOAG is satisfied with the 2013 annual result

Income increased + expenses reduced = subsidy from the city
reduced.

With this simple formula you can see the annual results of STOAG
describe. Managing directors Peter Klunk and Werner Overkamp are
satisfied: “The measures that the company has taken to make its contribution to consolidation have led to success. This is an overall performance of all STOAG employees. "

The 2013 figures

Yields
The income of a transport company is made up of sales, holding costs, interest income and other operating income. For 2013, STOAG's income amounted to EUR 29,9 million (previous year: EUR 28,5 million). At EUR 25,9 million, the income from the
Ticket sales the largest position. In addition, there are flat rates for training traffic and compensation for the free transport of heavy vehicles
disabled - both positions have been continuous in recent years
reduced.

In Oberhausen the population and the number of schoolchildren are declining. This has a direct impact on the number of passengers, which fell from 38,1 million in 2012 to 37 million in 2013. Pupils
Schoolchildren and trainees continue to form the largest subscriber group with 15.355 subscriptions, even if their share is 5,2% compared to

Last year has reduced. The reduction in the range of services and the price development of tickets also play a role in passenger development: Since 2002, the operating performance of STOAG has been reduced by 20%. During the same period, the price for the single ticket increased by 43%.

The number of passengers using the bar fare fell less sharply in 2013, at -3,9%, than in previous years. Here the sale of the
Multi-trip tickets had a positive effect on drivers. Is relatively constant
the number of customers who freely choose their time trial pass - in comparison
compared to the previous year, there was only a slight decrease of 0,5%.
The Ticket1000 has that for the monthly time passes
Ticket2000 has been replaced in popularity - customers have opted for the cheaper option with no additional benefits.

3.023 customers currently use MeinTicket every month, the number of users fluctuates due to the duration of various funding measures. A total of 29.800 people from Oberhausen currently have a subscription with STOAG.

expenditure
The transport of 37 million passengers, the maintenance of 121 buses and
6 trams as well as the public transport infrastructure and the employment of
around 420 employees lead to total expenses in 2013
of EUR 47,8 million. These are 3,6% below those of the previous year
(EUR 49,5 million). This result could only be achieved through restructuring measures in all departments and through changes in the transport offer. The stable diesel price had a positive effect. The largest expense item is personnel costs at EUR 22,2 million.

The operating result of STOAG shows a minus of EUR 17,9 million and is thus EUR 3 million below the previous year's result (EUR 20,9 million). Income from investments and securities totaled EUR 10,1 million, 27% less than in the previous year (EUR 12,8 million). This results in a remaining financing requirement for the city of Oberhausen in the amount of EUR 7,8 million. The city's subsidy for public transport is therefore no longer available
EUR 0,4 million (= 5%) below the previous year.

Developments and Perspectives
Service for the customer + investment in new technologies is the guiding principle
over the 2013/2014 financial year.

The one introduced at STOAG in summer 2013 mobile ticket makes customers independent of change, opening times of the sales outlets. Almost 600
Customers have registered with STOAG to this day, here there are still
Potential for improvement. Since January 2014 there have been two new discounted tickets in the Rhein-Ruhr transport association, the 7-day ticket and the 10-day ticket, which are only available through this distribution channel. This development will continue in the future.

As of July 1st, STOAG is breaking new ground and as a pilot project in traffic
verbund Rhein-Ruhr a particularly attractive ticket for
to those who want to cover several short distances within a limited period of time by bus or tram: the CityO.-Ticket. For the price of four euros, passengers can make any number of journeys within the city of Oberhausen for four hours. The ticket is valid Monday to Friday from 9 a.m., on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays all day. An additional person can be taken along free of charge from 19 p.m. and on weekends.

With the cityO.-Ticket would like to address STOAG customers for whom the price of a single ticket for short trips, for example to the city center or to the beer garden, is comparatively high and who have therefore switched to private transport.

Improved customer service also includes Extension of the mobility guarantee. Customers who call a taxi after 20 p.m. because the bus or train leaves more than 20 minutes late no longer have to pay in advance if the taxi is requested via the STOAG hotline (hotline 0208 8358210).

Only through the constant Dialogue with the customer STOAG learns "where the shoe pinches". At the customer forum, for example, the participants exchange ideas with experts from STOAG on specific key topics. The last customer forum in May was about service / safety / cleanliness. The topic of safety is also at the center of communication with seniors. Training with a wheelchair or rollator has met with a great response. There is also a regular exchange with the youth parliament, in particular to discuss topics related to school traffic. But STOAG also seeks contact with customers when preparing long detours in order to create the best possible conditions for residents. This is what happened during the planning of the new Emscher Bridge.

Sixteen newbuses Type O 530 Citaro - twelve three-door solo buses and four articulated buses - were ordered in 2013 and put into operation in January 2014. As early as February 2013, seven new solo buses were used in regular service. Thanks to STOAG's continuous investment in new vehicles, the average age of buses is currently 4,6 years. All STOAG buses have a green sticker, which is compulsory to drive into the environmental zone on July 1, 2014. The new Mercedes buses have low fuel consumption, which is around 37,5 liters / 100 km for solo buses and 47,0 liters / 100 km for articulated buses, around 15% below the average consumption ten years ago. As in previous years, the new vehicles are equipped with video protection systems, double monitors and a large multifunctional area on the second door, the passengers
offer significantly more space with mobility aids or strollers.

On the E-mobility project STOAG is particularly proud. The biggest problem currently with the use of electric buses in regular service is, among other things, the high cost of storing electrical energy in batteries. Become
to use relatively small batteries to reduce the price of vehicles
these are reloaded several times during operation. In order to optimize the economic efficiency of using such battery buses, these recharges must be carried out quickly. A high charging power is required for this. This can be provided very inexpensively by the existing energy supply systems of the tram. The high charging current required for fast charging can be, for. B. supplied by a substation or taken directly from the tram's catenary. The energy transfer in the
The battery takes place via a pantograph on the roof of the buses. From summer 2015, two fast charging stations for electric buses will be built at the Neumarkt substation and at the Sterkrade station. The VRR supports this innovative project to 90%. In addition, evo is building a public quick charging station for electrically powered cars.

There is progress in the realization of the extension of the Tram line 105. The city of Essen, EVAG and VIA have endorsed the project and the corresponding lines. We were talking about two variants of the
Routing, either from the city limits of Essen to the main train station and
further to the Landwehr (variant 1) or the alternating journey to Sterkrade train station and to the main station / Landwehr (variant 2). Variant 2 reached
a significantly higher cost-benefit factor. The plan approval documents are currently being completed, it can be assumed that the plan approval procedure can be initiated in August.

With regard to the creation of the standardized assessment, a voting meeting took place on May 26, 2014 in Oberhausen at the invitation of the Ministry of Transport of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. Federal and state representatives in
Accompaniment of the VRR, the cities of Essen and Oberhausen as well as the STOAG and the VIA took the opportunity to look at the route in detail in the locality and to find out about the urban planning and traffic
